Universal USB Installer 1.9.5.3

Universal USB Installer is a very easy to use Live Linux USB Creator that allows you to create and run a live Linux distribution from a portable USB flash drive.

Just choose a Live Linux Distribution, the ISO file, your Flash Drive and, Click Install. Upon completion, you should have a ready to run bootable USB Flash Drive with your select operating system installed. Other features include; Persistence (if available) – note that casper persistence will only work with fat16 or fat32 formatted drives.

Linux Mint 10 KDE

Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, media codecs, support for DVD playback, Java and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, and a web-based package installation interface. Linux Mint is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories.

Wary Puppy linux 5.1

Puppy is extraordinarily small, yet quite full-featured. Puppy boots into a ramdisk and, unlike live CD distributions that have to keep pulling stuff off the CD, it loads into RAM. This means that all applications start in the blink of an eye and respond to user input instantly. Puppy Linux has the ability to boot off a flash card or any USB memory device, CDROM, Zip disk or LS/120/240 Superdisk, floppy disks, internal hard drive. It can even use a multisession formatted CD-RW/DVD-RW to save everything back to the CD/DVD with no hard drive required at all.

Wary Puppy is Puppy Linux variant that targets support for older hardware, especially in the areas of video and analog modem dialup. Wary Puppy 5.1 is a bugfix and minor upgrade of Wary 5.0.

Fedora 14

The Fedora Project is an openly-developed project designed by Red Hat, open for general participation, led by a meritocracy, following a set of project objectives. The goal of The Fedora Project is to work with the Linux community to build a complete, general purpose operating system exclusively from open source software. Development will be done in a public forum. The project will produce time-based releases of Fedora about 2-3 times a year, with a public release schedule. The Red Hat engineering team will continue to participate in building Fedora and will invite and encourage more outside participation than in past releases. By using this more open process, we hope to provide an operating system more in line with the ideals of free software and more appealing to the open source community.

The Fedora Project, a Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT) sponsored and community-supported open source collaboration, today announced the availability of Fedora 14, the latest version of its free open source operating system distribution. The Fedora Projects leads the advancement of free and open source software with a new distribution released approximately every six months.

Ubuntu 10.10

The openSUSE project announces Milestone 2 of openSUSE 11.4. Milestone 2 (M2) is the second of six periodic development snapshots of openSUSE 11.4 and includes updates to major components across the breadth of the distribution. Starting at the bottom of the stack, Linux Kernel 2.6.36-rc4 made it into M2. This is accompanied by the OpenGL implementation of Mesa 7.9, which provides a new compiler and support for newer Radeon chips. D-Bus 1.4 adds support for systemd and fixes the threading issues which gave KDE 4.5 problems. Productivity users can get a taste of the future with OpenOffice.org 3.3-alpha, including the user interface redesign." See the release announcement for more details.

ubuntu 10.10 Release Candidate

Fedora 14 beta

The Fedora Project is a worldwide community of more than 20,000 collaborators who have signed the Contributor License Agreement. The daily interactions between contributors result in a vibrant, growing community dedicated to the advancement of free and open source software. The most anticipated product of this community is Fedora, the operating system released by the project approximately every six months. Fedora represents the culmination of work by hundreds of engineers and thousands of contributors, working together to produce a complex yet useful whole.

The Beta release marks the point where all users are encouraged to download and try out the release. At this point the release is relatively stable, but real-world use and reports from users helps identify any lingering bugs so they can be addressed before the final release.

Linux Mint Debian (201009) released!

Today is very important for Linux Mint. It’s one day to remember in the history of our project as we’re about to maintain a new distribution, a rolling one, which promises to be faster, more responsive and on which we’re less reliable on upstream components.

Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) comes with a Debian base, which we transformed into a live media and on top of which we added a new installer. It’s rougher and in some aspects not as user-friendly as our other editions, it’s very young but it will improve continuously and rapidly, and it brings us one step closer to a situation where we’re fully in control of the system without being impacted by upstream decisions.
